Jess Piotter, the owner and founder of Angling-Solutions, has been producing quality fishing tackle for nearly 40 years. He started out tying trout flies as a hobby, which grew into an almost full time business. After tinkering with flies, he saw a demand for tying bucktail & maribou jigs for bass & walleyes. Local tackle shops carried some of these items, but not the type of quality Jess demanded. With a quality product to deliver, he was soon supplying over 30 tackle shops, and individuals with custom tied jigs.

In 1974, Jess once again saw a demand for a quality product in a niche fishing market. This is when he started tying streamers for White Bass & Walleyes. Always the innovator, he made a major upgrade 8 years ago by adding tinsel to the streamers and the "Hot Shot" Brand of streamers was born. Because of the popularity and demand of the Hot Shot Streamers, he only ties bucktail and marabou jigs for custom orders.

The streamers, while effective for White Bass, many fishermen were looking for a more active way to pursue the aggressive fish. Once again, Jess started looking at effective ways to put fish in the boat. His answer was the spinner. Due to the unavailability of spinners, Jess started producing a french style spinners for about five years. This proved to be an excellent way to be successful at boating fish in an efficient manner. After looking at several styles, and with the help of Babe Tonn, the Demon spinner was designed and the rest is history. He now produces 3 different sizes, 27 different colors & all are available with plain treble hooks or tied with calf tail.

The Bluegill ants have been and continue to be very popular. He also designed the Flutter Spoon for Perch & Walleyes, which are used both through the ice and in open water below a slip bobber. These Spoons have remained a constant producer for all our customers.

We have produced Muskie Spinners off and on for a number of years. Through a few years of field testing several design improvements have been made. The cork screw to hold plastic tails was introduced to maintain the action of the tail without compromising its effectiveness. And recently the development of the wire former capable of twisting .o8o wire diameter, Angling-Solutions now offers the heaviest duty Muskie Spinner produced anywhere in the country, once again, providing a quality product to today’s fishermen. He has always enjoyed developing new products for the fishing industry, and this will continue to be his mission in the future.
